Cho-rim compensates for Moo-gak’s inability to emote, by having an extra-sensory ability. It’s a big bonus that they complement each other’s lack too. And unlike other rom-coms, the pair don’t beat around the bush that long to admit their feelings for each other. And what makes me watch Girl isn’t its patchy storyline of a twisted psychopath, but our OTP.Ĭho-rim and Moo-gak have already fallen in love at first sight from the moment they crash-bang and meet on that busy street. Cos Girl is all about senses isn’t it, one has an “extra” sense of “smell”/ sight, the other has a lack. I much prefer the other title - Sensory Couple. In that line of thought, having the title focusing only on Cho-rim is also a misnomer. He’s juz a rather nicely developed plot device to bring our OTP together. Whether or not we get answers to why Chef Kwon kills people, and how he goes about killing them, are irrelevant. Juz happen that the catalyst is a psychopath. ![]() Yes, I agree that his Barcode Murders remain one of the more memorable serial murders I’ve seen in kdramaland, but Girl isn’t really about him.Ĭhef Kwon’s Barcode Murder is juz a pretext for Cho-rim and Moo-gak’s fates to intertwine. ![]() And while there are many viewers who are baying for blood on the not-so-tidy conclusion to Chef Kwon, I personally don’t feel that upset about it. (in fact, she watches Girl faster than me, even though i’ve been the one reviewing the show) And even more surprisingly, kooriyuki volunteers to work with me on the final review (remember she has backlogs?) This is one show which kooriyuki surprisingly doesn’t put on the backburner to become her ever-increasing backlog.
